Paul’s Toronto-Danforth story begins in the late 1970s, when his parents first settled in the riding after immigrating from a small village in Greece. They wanted to start a family and provide a better future for their children, and their sacrifices and dedication formed the backbone of Paul’s character and his love for the community. Paul graduated from Eastern Commerce Collegiate Institute, located in the heart of the riding. It was at this time that Paul met his future wife Denise. After 15 years together, they have started their young family, which includes two-year-old Dimitri and three-month-old Eleni.
Paul always envisioned being an integral part of the community and helping others. With the support and impact that his teachers had on him, Paul chose to pursue teaching as a career. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto, Paul completed his post-graduate degree from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. A truly memorable moment for Paul was when he returned to his alma matter Eastern Commerce as a teacher in its International Language program.
An active Liberal member, Paul has volunteered on numerous campaigns, including Stéphane Dion’s 2006 leadership campaign. With his experience, knowledge and passion for politics, Paul began a career in the diplomatic core, working as an official for the Consulate General of Greece in Toronto. After meeting and interacting with many politicians and community leaders, Paul wanted to play a more central role in politics.
Paul cares deeply for Toronto-Danforth as the community that gave him and his family so much, and is dedicated to connecting with its residents and earning their support.
